1.News of the day Brother for president? Hey, we may indeed have a 24 scenario. A Black president from United States of America!? 3.Article of the day Is Obama the front-runner? This may be the biggest battle of the baby boomers vs x/y generation. Martin Luther King, Vietnam war, John Lennon, all contributed to the baby boomers world. And of course, we have the X/Y generation that grew up with internet and have a different point of view on USA.
Who will win? The youtube generation? or The "internets" people?
1.News of the day Bend it like Beckham to US of A If you already reach the peak, the only way is down... However, if he is able to achieve what Pele cannot in USA - making Soccer the proper respected sport as rest of the world, he will be my man!

3. Article of the day World's Most Congested Cities Are you living in one of the cities mentioned below? Good for you!
The cities with the highest level of population congestion are: Manila, the Philippines; Cairo, Egypt; Lagos, Nigeria; Macau, off the Chinese coast; Seoul, South Korea; Dhaka, Bangladesh; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Jakarta, Indonesia; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic. To drive a car in any of them might be the ultimate challenge.
Macau? WTF? Its not congested at all once you take out the casinos...oh wait, thats the point.
And where's Hong Kong? I was pissed off HK didn't make the list but then I realized...HK only used 25% of its land. HK is one of the greenest city in Asia.

1.News of the day As an interesting continuation of last "nuclear" post, Israel is now considering bombing Iran's nuclear research facilities with tactical nuclear bunker buster.
They said its only about 1/15 of the TNT used in Hiroshima. Well, both ways, you will get your ass kicked.
But its not really a big deal though. A SINGLE USSN Trident Submarine got the following nuclear power:
Trident Submarine: 24 Triden D-5 Missiles (up to) 8 warheads (up to) 400 kilotons each (20 Hiroshimas each) or 3,840 Hiroshima equivalents per sub. (generally less because of Treaty)
BOOOOM!

3.Article of the day How to live to be 150 Seriously though, whats the point of living till the end of time if you cannot enjoy it? To me, life is not about what you gain, its about what you have done. If you have stuff to do till 150, be my guest. Otherwise, why waste Earth limited resources?
May as well go to a long term space exploration or volunteering in Iraq? ...
4.Video of the day Since we are talking about boom today, may as well show this clip of booming myth in our daily lives. The story goes like this: An executive keep talking in car for hours on the highway and finds out the gas is running out. He gets to the gas station, start pumping the gas, and keep talking on his cell. The car then suddenly blows up, so does the gas station. Thats where Mythbuster comes in!
However, you should remember, stay outside and remember to GROUND yourself if you have to go in and out of the car!

1. Post of the day: Jamming guitar and violin is a great idea, especially when you are kinda drunk. I never thought the Ultima VI song "Stones" sounds so similar to some of Coldplay's greatest hits! I am NOT stoned.
I love how they said "HD-DVD is the clear winner over Blu-ray in the DVD format wars. Oh yeah, and the PS3 is a bust."
Wii truly is becoming the Mac entry of the console war. Creative and...weeeeee?
3. News of the day: The ice mass is going going....GONE...to haunt us later. And when you talk about the mass, its about 11,000 football fields, or roughly the size of Manhattan, New York.
It has nothing to do with Quebec, yet here it is. Canadian media are humorous after all. Even before the doomsday scenario!

RI"P" (Peace or Piss, your choice) Saddam Hussein (April 28, 1937 - December 30, 2006)
1.Post of the day: End of year. No matter what happened to you last year, make sure the experience counts. Make sure it means something for you. Make sure you learn from it. Make sure you don't do it again or it will comes back to you in a different package but of the same variety.
A truly moving story and song, and its real. Check the Milan live version for Miss Sarajevo on youtube if you want to listen to it. Its about lost love, war, and redemption. I was depressed these days, and these help me to realize that my existential problem is nothing compares to Dante's hell.
As if you cared? But indeed, an end of an era. Best wishes to people in Iraq...
4.Video of the day: Amazing grace - Ben Underwood
He is blind, yet he is not blind. A truly amazing story. A Boy who sees with sound. Just like dolphins, bats. A boy who refused to become what people think he should be. "I am not blind. I just can't see."

Pursuit of happyness...the Real life version. You can definitely search the net for all about him, but what struck me the most is the following:
-Christopher Gardner was raped by a man who was a member of a gang of thieves in his neighborhood. Years later, when he met the man again, he struck the man with a cinder block and walked away. -He was abused throughout his childhood by his step father. When he was about 6, he says, his mother tried to burn down the house with his stepfather in it. She went to state prison for four years, and he was shuffled among relatives and foster homes. He saw his real father only twice: when he was a father himself, at age 28, and at his father's funeral.
-He then decided he will never be like his step father, or his real father. Thats the reason he didn't leave his son when his girlfriend dumped him altogether. -In 1983, at 28-29 years old, he spent nights crashed at a homeless shelter with his son -- and that was on the good nights during his internship with Dean Witter Reynolds. On others, he says, he and his son would crash at flophouses or hole up in a far corner of Union Square. Bathing was often done in the sinks of public bathrooms. For meals, Gardner brought his son, then a toddler, to the soup kitchen at Glide Memorial Church.
-At one point, he was saved by prostitute who gave him 5 dollar bills after seeing him and his son wander at night for places to stay.
-The most important thing Chris ever heard from his son in his life when he says, ‘Papa, you're a good papa,’ when the son was still only 2 years old.
-To him, place-ism is more challenging than racism. "I'm not from a politically connected family. I hadn't gone to college. I had no money of my own. Who's going to do business with you? That's place-ism, that's not racism. That's the biggest ‘ism’ I had to deal with and that's an ‘ism’ that can affect anybody in this room. The racism thing was secondary. My love for what I had an opportunity to do, and my love for my child, and my commitment minimized everything else." -Now, in 2006, he is marrying the woman of his dreams, whom he first met on a BART train 23 years ago. -He finally found his "father", Nelson Mandela, when the man said "Welcome home, son." and shook his hand. For the first time in my life, for a man ever to say the words to me, ‘Welcome home, son,’ and for it to be Nelson Mandela, he cried.
-Christopher Gardner has started an international mission designed to create economic opportunities in South Africa, with asset under management close to 1 billion US. -Christopher Gardner doesn't see his as a rags-to-riches story. What he hopes people come away with is that life is full of possibility if you put your heart into it and don't give up

Recently I watched a movie called "The pursuit of happyness". I've actually watched it twice.
It is a very powerful movie. It moved my heart. Twice.
A typical story of the "American Dream", yet somehow somewhere the movie magic just works.
Will Smith and his son made a marvelous Father-Son in the movie.
Just watch it...I will talk a little bit more about this movie in later ... cause its Christmas time.
Merry Christmas to all of the bloggers, including my cat...whom endure the time I wrote and not giving her dinner in time. =)
I just got the link from someone's blog, and its actually a touching and genuine commercial (genuine and commercial seems to stand at the opposite end of each other...)
A Tim Hortons Commercial that tells the story of three generations of Chinese Canadian. Tim Horton's coffee is the link....
[STORYLINE] Lou, a Chinese immigrant, raises his son, Jimmy, to study and work hard. When Lou finds young Jimmy playing street hockey, he expresses his disapproval. Many years later, an elderly Lou enters a hockey arena with a tray of Tim Hortons coffee. He heads into the stands, and hands a coffee to Jimmy – who is an adult now. Jimmy seems surprised to see his father there. Lou explains that he has come to see his grandson Tommy (Jimmy’s son) play hockey. It is soon revealed that Lou used to secretly watch his son play at the same arena years ago, and that he always enjoyed a Tim Hortons coffee while he watched. Lou and Jimmy share a moment, as they each enjoy a delicious Tim Hortons coffee and proudly watch Tommy play.
The comment of those users are pretty offending, but the story itself (Which for a Chinese guy, you know this is actually the NORM) is very touching.
Adding the fact that the main characters are all Chinese Canadian in a main stream TV ad in Canada, this makes me want to drink even more Tim Hortons...
Its getting close to Christmas, and for this time of day, its hard for people who lost their love, or don't have their love, or unable to love at all.
Lets just listen to the music...and think about...what you don't want to think about when you're alone.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, 板本龍一 Thanks for Sunny's post about the music, I always have no idea where the song came from http://sunnychanorg.blogspot.com/
Lonely Christmas, 陳奕迅 This is highly recommended by a pop star from Taiwan (Jolin). For me, I enjoy it all the time with, or without my love.
Last Christmas, George Michael The lyrics is unforgettable...or just that phrase "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day, you gave it away..."
Christmas Eve Sarajevo, Trans-Siberian Orchestra Pure classical music WITH metallica...and when you realize all the hell they've been through in the late 90s, you will know it was a tragic time...

A summary of interesting video posted in youtube, 6room (China copycat of youtube), etc...
A surveillance video recording for an apparent murder near a hip-hop club, it has been uploaded to youtube since its target witness are in their late teens and its only natural for the Police to start using the power of Web 2.0.
When you think about all the hand held cell phones....you got the idea. You have so many big-brother now!

Coldplay's single "Fix You" is a very moving song. In my opinion, it is even better than "The Scientist" because of the fact that it show hope at the end...while Scientist is just lamenting for the past.
Why do I care about the difference? Because...read the Chinese version...
Fix You - Coldplay
When you try your best but you don't succeed When you get what you want but not what you need When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse.
And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can't replace When you love someone but it goes to waste Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below When you're too in love to let it go But if you never try you'll never know Just what you're worth
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you
Tears stream, down on your face When you lose something you cannot replace Tears stream down on your face And I..
Tears stream, down on your face I promise you I will learn from the mistakes Tears stream down on your face And I..
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you.
The Scientist - Coldplay
Come up to meet you, Tell you I’m sorry, You don’t know how lovely you are
I had to find you, Tell you I need you, Tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets, And ask me your questions, Aww let’s go back to the start
Runnin’ in circles, [sounds like] Comin’ our tails, Heads on the science apart
Nobody said it was easy It’s such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard Aww take me back to the start
I was just guessin’, At numbers and figures, Pullin’ the puzzles apart
Questions of science, Science and progress, Do not speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me, Come back to haunt me, Oh when I rush to the start
Runnin’ in circles, [sounds like] Chasin’ our tails, Comin’ back as we are
Nobody said it was easy Aww It’s such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be so hard I’m goin’ back to the start
