Never Forget - A day in June, 1989

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
-George Santayana(1863 - 1952)

Back in 1989, I was still a young kid. I remembered those days when I would walk with my parents on the street for nearly 3 consecutive weekends.

I will never forget when I yell "Li Peng!" and the crowd around me just responded in full, "GO DOWN!". "Li Peng!""GO DOWN!" "Li Peng!""GO DOWN!" "Li Peng!""GO DOWN!"...and I was a Grade 5 student.

I will never forget the tears all over my parents and uncle's face when it happened. It was not normal at all. I know it even when I was small.

I learned about the term Diaspora a few years later. To a lot of the middle class in HK, this is the start of our HK's people diaspora. To Australia, to Britain, to Canada, to everywhere else in this world...

Yet, after all these years, Capitalism prevails. Money prevails.

No one raelly care about this anymore...and its really said, because those who once cared about it...have to submit in reality...which is...we are not ready for a healty political system based on a conscience society yet...

I scienrely hope that we can one day see a healthy Chinese government appears. The one that respect human rights, the one that gives their people the right to dream, to speak freely, to have freedom of choice...

It will come. One day.

...Never forget...
