1.News of the day
Wanna go to nail house?
You can always fill the surrounding with water I guess...it could become a landmark test for new Chinese property law passed just recently. Really LANDMARK indeed.
Only happens in China!?
2.Quote of the day
"I'm not stubborn or unruly, I'm just trying to protect my personal rights as a citizen. I will continue to the end."
- Mr, Wu the nailhouse occupant
"He wants 20 million yuan, or he'll stay till the end of the world ."
- A saleswoman at Weilian Real Estate Sales Company
3.Article of the day
Clearing the air...me HKSAR government!? What!?
On my recent trip back to Hong Kong, the air smells like shxt, and my immune system declared war on myself because of all the dirty crap I kept pulling in every time I breathe.
I guess there are no excuses for the HKSAR government...with the near-monopoly on power generation in HK, they are just hopeless...53% of the pollution are from HK itself! Don't blame China every single time FFS!
Well, you don't wanna go against the 9th richest man in the world would you?
Yeah right...
4.Video of the day
Fishball 101
I teach you demand and supply in a HK way.
Its funny and strangely easy to absorb...best spoon-fed I've ever seen.
If you don't know Chinese, just answer the question: If a bowl of fishballs of 6 cost 20bucks, a bowl of cowballs of 6 cost 20bucks, and a bowl of mixed balls(3 fishballs, 3 cowballs) cost 22bucks, What is the cheapest way to maximize utility and minimize cost with a group of 2?
I don't know wtf I am talking about, that guy is brilliant! (He is getting like at least US 250K a year for teaching you how to get the most balls in a HK way ...)

A friend forwarded this fishball video to me a few months ago. I learnt. That's application which I always consider the most important thing in learning. At school, no one would teach you how to apply the knowledge in real life. While I don't like the overall feeling projected from the video, which is so money-minded, I appreciate the practical part which can really help the students grasp the theory in a lively way. Like it or not, that's so called HK people and HK way of life.
I actually like it...and I wish I have those kinda TV Ed back in "my" days...
And I ordered two bowl of noodles every lunch during my time in HK and I am proud to live in a HK way! :)
Its so damn quiet here...damn!

The Nail House, talk of the town. Dunno why, I just think that there's always something behind the issue which we can't see or we can never see. I would tend to reject to knowing more in such cases.
We have the freedom to get information all over...we should use it.
Its not a right, its our advantage compare to people in China. They don't have freedom of speech, of information, of religion...
=_=' maybe I am just too pissed off about "why can't china be really standing up..."
oh well...
"Its so damn quiet here...damn!"
Why? I thought you love the lives there?
Did you really order two bowls of noodles "every" lunch? Gosh! I'm really interested to know what and why you are proud to live in a HK way. :)
"why can't china be really standing up..."
That's my complex too! That's why I only claim myself as a Hongkongish all along. Even though it's tattered and torn here and there, I do belong to this place, and nowhere else.
The noise level difference drives me nuts...imagine about 50db difference...and that I am alone here...facing four walls and one cat(just got it back today whew).
I actually need 2 bowls to fill up my stomach cause it cause 10bucks only! So damn cheap! After spending close to 600 in one shot buying books in MK, I enjoy the 10bucks / bowl of soup noodles.
If there is one place I want to have in Toronto, its MK. Its so damn small I can put it in a mall and hide it...yet it has all I need.
The BEST public hospital in the world (Kong Wah Hospital), the BEST 2/3rd floor bookstore with Traditional text, the BEST cellphone mechanics and tons of different activities...like scam electronics shop, illegal activities turned into the ugliest
shopping building ... and then my old school DBS...all the memories...
Or I will just get some wine and drink and sleep tonight...ha
"Even though it's tattered and torn here and there, I do belong to this place, and nowhere else."
I guess thats my pain living in Toronto...not white enough to assimulate, not fob(Fresh off the boat, aka immigrant style) enough to be happy within the HK community...
Maybe I should just go to China and ... god I am grumpy tonight.
Ha! What a 250db difference! Well, I guess I can imagine. Except that there are far too many people pushing you on the street, MK is wonderful. That kind of non-stop feeling is amazing. So how long have you been in Toronto?
I just went out to buy take-away and suddenly realised that, maybe I shouldn't ask too much, huh?
I can't comment on how other colours can/should assimulate on the other side of the earth. But I can surely tell you that I don't need to fob and can still be happy living on this small island. It's not the place, my friend. And, why can't we grump in our own place. No harm!
no problem...I just got back from drinking and bubble teaing with friends from Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Some of them are mixed with French too...I guess I love the multicultural thing here...everyone got their own epic story to tell...=)
Been here for about 10yrs...and losing ability to fight in outside world since this place is so comfortable...doh
If it's your choice to stay "inside", there's no problem then. Whether the world is large or small, it all depends on you yourself. I'm just curious to know if you're really contented with your present comfort.
Guess you've gone to bed. Sweet dreams, my friend! ^_
p.s. Nice talking with you.
Chongqing Nail House Case settled.
It's good to see it settled finally. Dunno, don't like to see such news.
Why you don't like to see such news? I'd rather see this than Andy Lau...
at least the society will benefit from it (as a Law case...)
Well, what I mean is I don't really want to see the unjust reality. I feel weary. However, while I even hate to see such cases like Andy Lau's crazy fan (I only read the headlines), I would see it as another social phenomenon which we can also learn something from it. In fact whether people can learn depends more on themselves, rather than the environment.
Hey, we're having 5 consecutive public holidays here (Ching Ming + Easter). Do you have any Easter holiday there?
Yes...only Easter Friday though...No Ching Ming :P
Of course no Ching Ming la!! But only Easter Friday? What about Monday, which is the actual resuurection day?
No idea...I need resurrection myself...
Yeah, you're in the process already, right?
You will know when I start posting again :)
omg, 5:47a.m. K!!
Insomnia...=(
