Women of Ararat
PART 1
(PART 2 IS HERE: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xxJ_5_hw9qM )
Iraq. Summer 2003. Nobody, except our driver, knows where we are heading to. After 800 kms of desert and crossing illegaly the kurdish frontline, we reach our destination, a mountain range at the border of Irak, Iran and Turkey. This is a strategic point controlled by the kurdish rebels of the PKK. Among them are 3000 women. They have founded their own army and live separated from the men.
We are the first Western crew to have filmed their lives.
A haunting story about war, sadness, and women...

Remember the tale where the she-wolf suckled the two brothers to build Rome? It was a FACT...well at least not completely fake...

Heads gonna roll for this. Condolences for victim's family.
How would the most powerful and richest nation in the world allow their citizen to die under under-maintained and unreliable public infrastructure?
That's a good question to ask. I wish this won't happen in Canada...oh wait, it already happened in Quebec! ^$%&^#%^&
2.Quote of the day
"Screaming kids are good. That means they're alive and full of a lot of energy. As a paramedic, that's the best thing, I'll tell you. If it's quiet, that means I've got a busload of children who can't help themselves."
3.Article of the day
The missionaries vs Martyrs
In some way, the Taliban and the Koreans are the same -- they both believe in something so much that they are willing to put themselves at risk.
The difference is, one is willing to take others lives, the other one is willing to give their own lives for others.
We can see the differences of the religion here I guess...

2.Quote of the day
"The South Pole is an expensive place to exploit and it was realised that if everyone agreed not to touch it, they could all rest easy about pouring millions into the area. This is not the issue with the Arctic. It is becoming easier and easier to exploit. Nations aren't going to give up on these rich pickings."

The rise of a polluting country
Yes China! 11.2% of global economy and and more pollution anyone? Biggest driver of global economic activity...may as well add the "Biggest polluter of global economic activity", which as we all know, is still hold by the United States of America.
But China is catching up REAL fast and this year or next, the CO2 crown should be in China's hand.
I guess the Asian brown cloud is not exotic enough...

The internet is ruthless. For the past few years we've already been through myspace, friendster, etc...all these social networking web apps.
If anyone can develop an application who can automatically move your friends between these freaking web apps, that will be super...
Or, as the article say, if Facebook became THE GOOGLE of social networking apps, then we can stop searching and moving again every 6 months. Which is a good thing.
Oh wait...why don't I put this on my W A L L!

1.News of the day
I like having multiple wives. Hell, its a man's dream/nightmare. But killing these people just for that?
They were not on a missionary mission. They were coming to volunteering for providing only medical and other volunteer aid to distressed people in your war-ravaged country.
I can tell you that, if you kill these people, S.Korea will sent their best marines to come hunt you down and cut your heads and limbs off.
They are not Japanese, nor they are Chinese. The are hot-blooded Koreans. If they can commit Hara-Kiri, cover themselves with bees, cut their own fingers off to protest against their government policies towards Japan, imagine what they will DO TO YOU if you kill their young sons and daughters who came to help you with good intentions.
They will make you say "Allāhu Akbar" with your tongue cut off ... and your OWN head on your laps!
2.Quote of the day
"They have got until tomorrow at noon to withdraw their troops from Afghanistan, or otherwise we will kill the 18 Korean."
- Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, Taliban spokesman
3.Article of the day
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea...eh I mean 5,000 feet under the sea
Interesting article in terms of how the mining industry will be revolutionized after most of the
Earth's surface gold, copper, and most importantly tantalum(cell phone material) mines depleted and polluted the environment around it to hell...and yes, maybe we will fuck the sea up as well!
But who cares about some remote place in the pacific under 1,600m? GREENPEACE don't have the sub to go protest there...
Out of sight, out of mind...I think we are gonna screw it up again with this...

Rule No. 1: You can kill bystanders without feeling a lot of guilt.
Rule No. 2: You can kill children, too, without needing to feel distress.
Rule No. 3: Sometimes, you can single out civilians for killing; bankers are an example.
Rule No. 4: You cannot kill in the country where you reside unless you were born there.
Rule No. 5: You can lie or hide your religion if you do this for jihad.
Rule No. 6. You may need to ask your parents for their consent.
If you abide by these rules(or find exceptions from some old scripts ), you will be in heaven.

Go after some hot chick in Alberta, Canada.
Nothing wrong with that. Its just sad that seeing your comrades going to the battlefield while seeing you enjoying beer and having a great time with hot bartenders...
Well, what can you do? At least you are shooting something in Alberta now eh?

The Spy Who Shagged Me
After using nuclear substance (polonium210) to kill a guy who criticizes you, what do you get? Bad press?
No! In mother Russia, where cars drive you, you don't get murdered by polonium210.
In mother Russia, Polonium eats you. Whether you die or not, its up to god...but there is no god.
Anyway, after all these years, the cold war is over and the West is no longer an enemy but, as far as you can tell, it is no friend.
I like this paragraph,

3.Article of the day
King Kwong/Wu/Wong...
The Economist is a great magazine. No one knows who wrote the article, yet all the articles somehow gives a coherent thinking mode on world issues that is not conflicting at all. (At least thats from MY reading experience)
It is interesting that Japan is the subject of comparison when trying to look back in history for similar instance where American supremacy is being challenged by another foreign country.
A democratic capitalism vs a one party state "capitalism" - 19th century style one where workers be damed, environment be damned, morals be damned and get rich is glorious.
I hope the history don't repeat itself 'cause 100million of angry stock holders may cause a very big harmonic noise of "TMD", and that won't be a harmonic society anymore.
btw, I love the art work...Panda vs US of A...so cute...O.o

WTF?“We look like you. We look like Europeans and so the West expects us to think and act like you. As a result, when we don’t you get all upset. Why can’t they be like us, you fret. But you don’t say that about the Chinese, for instance. You don’t expect them to think and act like you. Well, we are white but we are different.”

This is the best pictograms among other olympics cause it actually feels lively...as if those are REAL, as these are based on theme of the ancient "oracle bone" text...

The man who owns the internet...well most of the names!
Is a long story, but read it and you will realize who pathetic it is, yet also how profitable it is at the same time.
This is basically virtual buying non-claimed lands.
I do remember there were cases where big company sue the person instead of paying the guy who owns nissan.com
Oh crap, he still owns it, but he may need to pay 10million USD for his last name, Nissan, that lasts for generations...
Life sucks I guess. Better not name your kid Google or any up and coming mega brand...???

The game who saved the nation
Blizzard's entertainment has unveiled its latest Starcraft 2 announcement presentation in Korea. Why Korea? Because Starcraft saved Korea's economy back in the Asian Financial Crisis!
Seriously though, a game that is so popular that it became a national sport that televised Starcraft matches account for 1% of all TV watched nationwide.

Cry wolf...Wolf. Don't cry
I guess there is a limit of what bush's administration can cover for Wolf. He was not a bad man. He is just a sick bastard who also architect the Iraq Plan.
And we all know how great the plan was, and how great it is today, and how great it will be in the future if nothing is done to change the fundamental flaws of the plan...
Time for him to get hired as PMC(Private Military Company) and go to Iraq and start kicking some...hm...I guess not.
2.Quote of the day
"What we are hoping for is somebody who really has leadership capacity. Somebody who is a person of vision, who has demonstrated diplomatic abilities to bring development partners and clients together and really somebody who trusts the staff."
Which means...

All your changes are belong to us!
Woot! Imagine going to the bank and cash it out all these coins...I mean 17 tons of colonial-era silver and gold coins. Just imagine!
500million from the middle of no where deep in the Atlantic ocean.
The Black Swan coins...don't tell anyone where it is!
I am sure the world will find out soon though...
2.Quote of the day
"So there will be winners and losers. The bad news is that you, the ordinary, middle-class employees of the west, will be losers and everybody else will be winners. But the good news is, your sacrifice will make poverty history."
3.Article of the day
The world is flat, but not so fat for you!
This is not a joke, its happening and I have to think of a way to survive. With the rise of Asia's white collar class, development of the Automation, and Abundance of the materials, it created a perfect storm to the current white collar class culture in the west.
If I can hire 2 phDs, 4 Masters, 8 undergraduates from Asia with the price of 1 big fat American, why the hell should I hire you?
If you read the powerpoint below, 25% of the highest IQ in China is more than the total population of the North America continent...so its completely possible.
That means...we gotta find something that can't be outsourced and highly in demand.
Eg. Prostitution(ok thats just not right...), Home renovation, Plumbing, Artistic Design, anything that uses your RIGHT brain instead of the LEFT...
Or thats just my wishful thinking.

Farewell, comrades!
He was a typical Russian.
Love vodka.
Love women.
Love his country.
No matter how "clown" alike he was in the later years, he was the man who stopped the tanks from crushing the democracy movement in Soviet Union.
For that, we should be grateful.

Not much to add here. But that gives you an idea of how does it feel to be the family members of a villain.
And is he really a villain? Or just a poor kid with no friends no nothing, a stranger in a strange land?
